Advanced Ads Quick How-To

Create and display your first ad

This quick tutorial (3:54 min) is going to show you how to create your first ad, what most of the options are for, and how to display the ad in your sidebar.

How to create your first ad

In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can create your first ad and display it on the frontend, for example below the search field in your sidebar.

Creating the ad

  • Go to the Advanced Ads menu in your Dashboard and click on Ads.
  • Enter the title.
  • Choose an Ad Type. Each type has specific features. Read the description to find out more
  • The Display Conditions allow you to show the ad only on specific pages, specific posts, or post types, or your home page only. Don’t set anything here if the ad should show up on every page.
  • The Visitor Conditions box is about conditions that are attached to your visitors in order to see or not see ads, like showing it only to visitors visiting with mobile devices. Don’t set anything here if the ad should show up to every visitor.

Click on Next or Publish now to see the publish options.

Displaying the ad

In order to make our ad visible in the frontend and especially on our sidebar in this case, click on the sidebar icon in the available placements or go to Appearance > Widgets where you can find the Advanced Ads widget here on the top left. Just drag it into the sidebar below the search field where we want it to show up. You can enter a title for the widget but you don’t have to.

More important is to choose the ad you want to display. When you save the widget, the ad is visible in the frontend.

Go to the frontend, reload the page, and you should see the ad.
