Apply Neighborhood Filters to the Photo Slider tool

Whether you would like to create a dedicated page highlighting all the organizations and venues in a particular neighborhood, or you want to be able to filter your event syndication feed by neighborhood, this territory function will help you do it.

Add Neighborhoods to your Database

Go to your admin dashboard, in your left hand column find Appearance > Theme Options. Then select the ‘Territory’ tab, and scroll down to the ‘Neighborhood’ section.

The first thing to note is that neighborhoods are connected to cities. The neighborhoods you add will only show up under the city you’ve selected.

When decide where you would like the ‘Neighborhood Selection’ dropdown menus to show up, you should consider whether or not you want your FE users to be able to add their neighborhood to their organization or venue listing. If you want all of the neighborhood selections to be controlled by the site administrator, do not turn on the ‘FE’ menu options.

Creating a Photo Slider that Filters for a Specific Neighborhood

If you want to create a Photo Slider for your page, go to the ‘More’ drop down menu in your ARTSOPOLIS Hub and select ‘Photo Slider’.

Click the ‘Add’ button at the top of the page to create a new slider.

Once you’ve published the slider, scroll to the bottom of the page and copy the whole short code, brackets and all, from the ‘Results’ section.

Add Photo Slider Short Code to a Static Page or Blog Post

This short code can be added to an existing page or a new one, including in the Guttenburg editor, Elementor, and blog posts.

Guttenburg Editor and Blog Post Editor – These two editors behave the same, and both use blocks. Click the + symbol on your new page/post to add a block. Under your widgets options, you will find one that says ‘Shortcode’ (you may have to ‘browse all’ to find it). Click to add that block, then paste in the shortcode from the ‘Results’ section in the Photo Slider tool.

Elementor Editor – To create a new Elementor page, go to Pages > Add New and select the blue ‘Edit with Elementor’ button. You can drag and drop elements on to this page. (Not familiar with Elementor? They have their own extensive knowledge base here: elementor.com/help/) Under the ‘General’ section, drag the ‘Short code’ block onto the page.

A window on the left hand side will open up and allow you to paste your shortcode into it. Don’t forget to ‘Publish’ or ‘Save your Draft’ before you leave the page!

Once you publish your page, you should be able to see your slider on the front end of the site. If you want, you can add the short code for both an Organizations and a Venues photo slider on the same page or blog post.
